About UsHi, we’re Heather and Glenn — the owners of Gleatherland, our little slice of desert paradise near Hueco Tanks.
After many years of traveling the globe in search of rock climbing, we settled down in the Hueco Valley. Inspired by our travels, Gleatherland came to fruition. We started out small with just a couple campers, eventually adding campers, yurts and house rentals. Our goal is to offer an affordable, quiet climber retreat. What started as a simple love for Hueco Tanks and the West Texas landscape has grown into a place where travelers, climbers, and nature-lovers can slow down, connect, and feel at home. We’ve poured our hearts into creating a space that celebrates the beauty of the desert — from the vibrant landscaping to the wide-open skies perfect for sunsets and stargazing. Whether you’re here to climb, camp, explore, or just recharge, we’re glad to share this land with you and hope it becomes part of your story, too. – Heather & Glenn |
The Name |
We are Glenn,Heather & Wyatt Johnson. A friend called us GLEATHER once and it stuck. We tried to change the name of the Gleatherland Ranch to something else, but the locals refer to it as Gleatherland, so we kept it.

Hueco Story |
Originally from the midwest and the east coast, we met at the RED River Gorge back when we were newbies. Our first trip to Hueco Tanks was in 2000. It was our first bouldering trip and we fell in love with Hueco. We've been coming back ever since. During our early years in Hueco, we worked at the HRR as camp hosts during the winters. Eventually we bought our own property in Hueco and started the Gleatherland Ranch.
